McCreath’s history in Baltimore stretches back to the 1940’s.  In the historical archives in our Harrisburg office, we retain many journals documenting the work done in Baltimore all the way back to 1945.  Propelled mainly by the huge raw material consumption needs of the Sparrows Point steel mill, McCreath sampled millions of tons of iron ore, manganese ore and ferroalloys over the decades.  At one time, Baltimore was the largest McCreath field office offering a crushing and screening service in addition to sampling in order to meet the needs of the customer.  

Today, even after the closure of the Sparrows Point steel mill has reduced the import of raw materials to a mere fraction of what it used to be and forced the closure of our physical location at Curtis Bay Terminal, McCreath still maintains a strong presence in the Baltimore area.  We continue to have staffing that covers both the ports and all warehousing locations in Baltimore as well as the neighboring ports of Wilmington, Delaware.  Our staff has over 20 years of sampling and inspection experience and is ready to serve the needs of our customers.
